Back in February, we covered the quiet opening of the Historic Fourth Ward Park. Now that it’s sunny and gorgeous out, things are getting underway for a formal opening. First, this Saturday, June 11 at 3 PM, the Historic Fourth Ward Skate Park will host its grand opening celebration, inviting residents and the Atlanta skate community to come down and christen the ramps, half-pipes, and bowls. There’s also going to be a skate exhibition and a visit by our friend Councilman Kwanza Hall. Check out the Facebook event page for details.
Then, on June 18, the celebratory Grand Opening of the park will begin at 10 AM, officiated by Atlanta mayor Kasim Reed. After the dedication of the park, there will be games and events for all ages; see who’s coming down on Facebook. By the opening, the playground should be in, so bring your kids (or someone else’s) for a great morning of fun in the sun!
The Historic Fourth Ward Park Conservancy is the place to go for news on this, the first jewel of the BeltLine project. We’re so thrilled that this beautiful park is part of our neighborhood.
