Our Thoughts on CL’s Best Of Atlanta

We’re a little bummed that Creative Loafing didn’t take (most of) our suggestions, but they still pulled out some great choices for this year’s Best of Atlanta. Read below to see our thoughts!

From the staff picks:

The Best New Thing in Atlanta: The Historic Fourth Ward Park and Skate Park – we couldn’t agree more. This park has a great location in the heart of intown’s historic Old Fourth Ward, plus it’s so fantastic to finally have a public skate park in town. If you haven’t been yet, what are you waiting for?

The Best Mainstream Tourist Attraction: The Cyclorama – we’ll admit, this isn’t the most glamorous thing Atlanta has to offer, but it’s pretty amazing to go see it at least once. We hope it stays in Grant Park!

Best Reuse of a Demolished Housing Project: Wheat Street Gardens – with “local” meaning everything from within Atlanta to South Carolina these days, it’s great to be able to see food growing in the heart of it all. A perfect example of how the intown Atlanta of today isn’t your grandma’s ATL.

Best Opportunity for National Retail and Food Hall Glory: Ponce City Market - this could be a game-changer, you guys. See you at the party this weekend?

Readers’ picks:

Best New Thing About Atlanta: Food Trucks – You know we love Atlanta food trucks! Apparently, so does everyone else.

Best Charity: Atlanta Community Food Bank – we are proud to have been part of this year’s Food-A-Thon. ACFB does such amazing work for our community.

Best Off-the-Beaten-Path Tourist Destination: Oakland Cemetery – this is the one prediction we got right! Of course we are huge fans of this beautiful and peaceful historic cemetery right down the street from the Pencil Factory. It’s more than a tourist destination, it’s one of our favorite parts of the neighborhood!

Best Street Art/Best Public Artwork: Krog Street Tunnel – we will be sending our team down to chronicle some of the amazing street art popping up on this little piece of Decatur Street. So cool…stay tuned!
