This coming May 5 is a big day, Atlanta. In addition to Cinco de Mayo, everyone’s favorite reason to consume mass quantities of queso and margaritas at Caramba Café in the Pencil Factory Flats & Shops, there are two other events happening on May 5 you should know about.
Get an up close and personal view of the BeltLine when you participate in the 5th Annual Atlanta BeltLine Bike Tour. The ride starts at DH Stanton Park at 9:00am (day-of registration 7:45-8:00am or you can register in advance online at a lower $25 rate through Wednesday, May 2.) Ride options range from a more leisurely 7.7 mile ride to the full 31 mile ride around the entire BeltLine and the quarry. BeltLine volunteers will lead the way and point out BeltLine highlights throughout the ride. You’ll of course get refreshment breaks, too!
If you’re looking for a truly unique way to spend your weekend, you must check out the 4th Annual $500 Downtown Atlanta Scavenger Hunt. Presented by the Atlanta Downtown Neighborhood Association, the Downtown Scavenger Hunt takes participants (individuals or teams of two) all over downtown Atlanta on a path to solve clues, gain points and get to the finish line. All participants will get a backpack of information and a guide map to lead them through the hunt. Digital photos will serve as proof of completion of each task. The event costs $25 and will be held rain or shine. Sponsors include The Village Theatre and the Sweet Auburn Curb Market.
Both events will no doubt rev up your appetite and thirst to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Aye Caramba!
