Attention students: You no longer need to bring your laundry home to mom to get that quality clean you so crave (and isn’t it about time you learned how to do your own laundry, anyway?) Blusion Wash + Dry, an eco-friendly, state-of-the-art laundromat, is now open at the Pencil Factory Flats & Shops.
So what makes Blusion worth checking out? Put down that bleach and listen up.
First, you need to understand the Blusion process, which has been used for years in hotels and industrial laundries in the U.S. In 2007, the folks at Blusion discovered that washing clothes with highly oxidized water allowed clothes to be cleaned and sanitized without using toxic chemicals like bleach or hot water. They uncovered that using a simple baking soda-based detergent with cold, highly-oxidized water not only cleaned clothes thoroughly, but sanitized washing equipment simultaneously. All this plus a decreased washing time adds up to a superior cleaning process that saves energy (no heat) and water (no need for excessive rinsing). Brilliant!
The folks at Blusion have been eager to make this technology available to individual users in a laundromat setting – and with the opening of Blusion Wash + Dry at the Pencil Factory in Atlanta, that dream has become a reality.
I’m sure all this laundry talk has got you itching to change your sheets (and if you’re itching, you really should think about changing your sheets), so let me wow you further:
- Blusion provides free Sun & Earth hypo-allergenic baking soda-based detergent (highly effective for whites and colors) to all customers. You can of course bring your own, but why lug that heavy container with you?
- For the safety and convenience of its customers, Blusion accepts only credit and debit payments – no cash. So you can forget about that archaic concept of bringing 3 rolls of quarters with you. Save them for the parking meters. Oh – wait – there is a FREE parking lot at the Pencil Factory with an entrance directly into Blusion – extra convenient for rainy days. So I guess you’ll need to find another use for those quarters.
- And speaking of money, the service is super affordable. Conventional wisdom might lead you to think this eco-friendly service must be more expensive, right? Not so! Blusion charges $2.70 for a triple load wash. (As a reference point, most home washing machines are double load capacity.) Compare that with competing laundromats in the area that charge between $3 and $4 per load. Drying is a flat $1.45 no matter how long it takes to get the job done.
- Blusion offers a drop-off service in addition to its self-service (which I predict could turn in to quite the social scene.) Bring your laptop and take advantage of the free Wi-Fi while your clothes get clean or pay $0.75/lb for someone else to wash your dirty socks while you grab a bite at Intown Market. The choice is yours.
Bottom line, give Blusion a try and you’ll go home with a bag of clean clothes that would make any mom proud.
