Take in a show this holiday season!

Fox TheatreThe shopping is done.  You’ve got some time off work.  Why not check out Atlanta’s theater scene?   Tickets also make a great gift idea.  Here’s a rundown of the shows you can catch over the holidays.

Now through Dec. 23 – Theatrical Outfit in Atlanta’s Fairlie-Poplar District – The Gifts of the Magi, a classic Christmas musical.

Now through Dec. 23 – Alliance Theater – A Christmas Carol AND Holidays with the Chalks, a hilarious play about an all-sister Country band.

Now through Dec. 23 – The New American Shakespeare Tavern – Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.

Dec. 20-22 – PushPush Theater at The Goat Farm Arts Center in West Midtown – The Black Glass, a dark comedy about corporate power.

Now through Dec. 26 – The Fox Theater – Atlanta Ballet’s Nutcracker.

Now through Dec. 30 – Horizon Theater Company in Little Five Points, The Santaland Diaries AND Madeline’s Christmas.

Now through Dec. 30 – Cirque du Soliel Totem at Atlantic Station.

If you’re looking for some serious laughs, check out Atlanta’s improve scene at The Village Theatre in the Pencil Factory Flats & Shops weekly every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.   Make a night of it when you dine at Caramba Café or The Drafting Table before the show.

Can’t make it to a live performance, but still want to get some culture?   You are in luck.  This on Christmas Day, Les Miserables starring Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried opens in theatres nationwide.   All indications are that this historical musical is not to be missed.
