Atlantans just can’t get enough of the food cart craze. Combine that with the excitement surrounding the development of Ponce City Market and the BeltLine and you get Food Cart Sundays!
The recurring event, which began July 14, will happen again this Sunday, July 21 and run through the fall. From 2:30pm-6:00pm, head over to the BeltLine Shed (just south of the Ponce bridge) to chow down on food from your favorite carts including Doggy Dogg, Atomic Ice Cream Sandwiches, and Dancing Goats. If you’re already planning a walk or jog along the BeltLine, just mosey on in! Check out this video from the first event last weekend and you’ll see many people doing just that!
If you’re not familiar with Ponce City Market, check out their website as well as the post I wrote about the hard hat tour I took a while back. Tours are still happening (and things no doubt look very different than when I went in November of 2012), but sell out quickly! If you’re interested in taking one, I’d recommend signing up for Ponce City Market’s email alerts or following them on Facebook so you are alerted when tours are announced. You’ll notice the tours posted on the Food Cart Sundays page are all sold out, but the page notes that more tours will happen in the future.
Ponce City Market (formally City Hall East) is located in the heart of the Old Fourth Ward – adjacent to the Atlanta Beltline and across the street from Historic Fourth Ward Park. The area is experiencing a period of unprecedented growth including new restaurants and apartment buildings like 755 North (coming spring 2014) – perfect for Atlantans who want to live in a green, walkable, intown neighborhood.
