It’s hard to believe Labor Day is upon us. The summer is ending and pumpkin spice lattes are right around the corner. But this is Atlanta, so there are still quite a few good days of warm, sunny weather ahead of us. Good thing too, as there are several fun events happening this long weekend. Take a look.
Decatur Book Festival – August 30-September 1, downtown Decatur. The eighth annual book festival features 300 best-selling authors and a fantastic street fair celebrating the written word.
Village Theatre – It’s the final weekend before the VT Improv League Championship! Watch the teams duke it out and cast your vote for the best Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights at 11:00pm for just $5.

Dragon Con – The largest multi-media, pop culture convention focusing on science fiction & fantasy, gaming, comics, literature, art, music, and film in the world is happening right here in Atlanta, August 30-September 2. Spectators can enjoy the parade Saturday, August 31, at 10am.
K’pow! at P’cheen – Saturday, August 31, 9:00pm, P’cheen – Dust off your dancing shoes, people. Kimber of Nonsense ATL will be serving up indie, house, nu-disco, and other musical delights all night long at P’cheen. Grab your friends and relax in the Old Fourth Ward with some good music, tasty food, and yummy cocktails.
9th Annual Beer & Whiskey Fest – Sunday, September 1, 2pm-11pm, Park Tavern at Piedmont Park. Celebrate the long weekend with 20+ premium whiskies & craft/import beers along with four tribute bands performing Journey, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Weezer, and Foo Fighters! Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door.
Labor Day brunch at Parish – Take a day off from kitchen duty and let Parish serve you a delicious brunch on Monday, September 2, from 10am-2pm. The market will be open from 8am-2pm as well.
